This book was hard to read in parts but unfortunately real life for some children. It breaks my heart to think about it. Emily did a great job grabbing my attention and holding it wanting to know what happens. Be prepared for the hard parts but the book is worth it. Very well written. The author has a gift/5().

As you read about Julia's childhood it breaks your heart but, as it happens that Else and Johnny her neighbors come to her rescue and help her to learn to trust people again and how through their faith in God you can do anything.
